Blissed Out Journey
We all know the saying, that life isn't about the destination, but the journey. Well, this is our journey. If you enjoy the basics of life, like child rearing, gardening, cooking, fermenting, chickens, bees, and home improvement along with less basic stuff like, real estate, debt management, and travel... then follow us on Our Blissed Out Journey!

Remaining Open to Change
Loves,
What is life if not ever changing? Our journey has shifted course, and we are becoming ever more flexible in our response.
Hawai'i was not as easy as it was seven years ago. Our choices were to stand firm, try to force an outcome, and put ourselves as risk of breaking... or remain flexible, take the hit, bend into the Universe, and come out calmly on the other side. We chose flexibility.
That choice has us back in Austin and working to further prepare, network, and to stay open to what lies ahead in out Blissed Out Journey. In the mean time, we are really working hard! Homeschooling has becoming more solidified as we study Big History, and work on learning Japanese. We have started pet sitting, and are cooking at home everyday. (Tune in for Lessons From the Kitchen- Two Points of View)
I am sure you all want to know what I brush my teeth with! It is homemade... and EASY! It works amazingly well, my teeth have never felt better! Try it out and let me know what you all think.
- 1 part baking soda
- 1 part kelp powder
- 1 part french green clay
- 10 drops of peppermint EO
- 1 teaspoon stevia
This recipe was specifically requested by a dear friend, Tamela. <3

Feel That Flow
Life is flowing! Can you feel it?
We were all set to buy this tiny house, and move to a farm in Oklahoma to complete the tiny house. Then the sale fell through. Instead of being super bummed out. Okay, I was super bummed for a minute. I let that feeling happen, and moved on. This was my perfect opportunity to jump on my true goal of Slowing Down, Living Simply, in a tropical climate. You know... an island life.
My lease was coming up, tax return was on it's way... so, bam! Tickets to Hilo, Hawai'i were purchased for two weeks out.
We sold all of the belongings that we could, gifted a lot to friends, and donated the rest.
Now we are in packing mode:
We still have some paring down to go if we are truly going to fit it all into two packs.
(DISCLOSURE: We will be shipping my mac, and some bulk herbs that I just couldn't let go of.)
Camping for at least a month is a good possibility, but I see potential for work trade, too.
What's next?? We will be posting more as we progress in this journey.
(LEAVING on MARCH 7TH!!)
Your comments would mean so much to us and encourage posts from my partner in adventure, Allison.

Up, up, and away!
As the possibilities open up, I find myself hesitating.
Which step is the correct one? It is very tempting to not take any step at all, just to avoid taking the "wrong" path... but believe it or not, there is no wrong path. They are only different.

Where to start?!
Right. Here.
It all begins with being open to possibilities, and realizing that you are exactly where you are supposed to be at this moment.
I want to tell you a story.
Two years ago, my husband and I separated. Being a stay at home mom and homesteader, I didn't exactly have a savings, or income. I scoured job ads in different cities that I wouldn't mind living in, with an emphasis on bartering for living quarters. There was one in New Orleans. With only $700 in my checking account, I was hesitant (to say the least!) to go without anywhere to land. I consulted with my then 11 year old daughter... she gets a say in where we go, too. Her answer was inspired and brave. "Mom, don't worry. You never have an interview without getting the job. This is YOUR JOB! Now, let's go."
We went, and arrived on St. Patrick's day. I met with the owner of the hotel that was hiring and was hired on the spot! They were sold out that night, but would find a place for us. We went out to explore and realized that there was about to be a parade. We ate lunch out, caught tons of beads, a cabbage (Yes, they throw cabbages from floats! Dangerous, but yummy!) stuffed animals, and more. When we were done, our room was ready and we were able to settle in.
It was difficult, but doable and exciting. Once our journey there was coming to a close, we came back to Austin. There was an ad on Craigslist that jumped out to me. Permaculture hotel, hiring front desk. I now had the experience to land this job... a job that I knew I would love.
I did. I got it! After three months, was promoted in to management, and now have a killer resume, great savings, and an incredible work family.
This wouldn't have been possible without my adventure in New Orleans. I needed that to get to where I am today, and to be where I will be tomorrow.
I never stop exploring possibilities. I can't afford to stop dreaming, or taking daring leaps of faith.
Where have your dreams lead you? What possibilities are you currently exploring?

Just the Two of Us
Building Castles in the Sand
Well, actually, yes. Sand and castles will be first on the list when reaching our first destination!
We are on a journey to discover the beauty in living exactly the live you dream of, and all of the hard work only that only makes it sweeter.
I can't wait to share this with you all... it's going to be incredible!
PS - I recently became involved in this amazing non profit, Ecology Action. They are asking for support to continue the good work of landfill remediation, and public education.
